I had to let you all know what a green smoothie is since I will be drinking one pretty much every day of my detox. I’m not doing my sugar detox the traditional way as I am allowing myself to consume naturally occurring sugar. So I’m eating fruits but staying away from white bread and rice, pasta and any processed snacks. I read a book a few years back called The Beauty Detox Solution and ever since I started making green smoothies. I feel it’s a good way to get in the leafy greens and fruit without having to eat a huge amount at one time. I know what you’re thinking “I don’t want to drink kale or spinach” lol. I can assure you I thought the same thing but the banana really masks the taste. I initially used her recipe but over time I began to experiment with it and add my own twist. I love smoothies because you can experiment with them and make any flavor you want. You can add different fruits, nuts, protein powder, and more.
1 cup almond milk
1 cup kale/spinach
1 container of Greek yogurt
1 chopped green apple
1 chopped pear
1/2 lemon (juice)
1 cup ice or 1 cup frozen fruit (depending on the fruit this may change the color) Optional
Blend together the almond milk and spinach or kale. Squeeze the lemon juice in then blend together the yogurt, pear, apple, & banana then the ice or frozen fruit. What are your favorite smoothie recipes?
