This book is one of my favorites. I read it for the first time last year and I just recently finished re-reading it. It’s one of those books that you need to read it once to get all the info and then read it again to really begin to apply it. I now try to read it once a year so that I can make sure I am implementing the behaviors I need and refine the ones I already am if need be.
This book is by Jack Canfield who also wrote the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. It covers 24 principles that when applied to your everyday life will help you reach the success you are striving for. There are a great deal of good stories of very successful people who applied these principles and make them more relatable.
A few of my favorite principles are:
#1 Take 100% responsibility for your Life
This principle is telling you to be accountable for the state in which your life is currently in. Ultimately you made the decisions to get you where you are, whether good or bad. If there is something that needs to be changed you need to figure out how to do that.
#5 Believe in Yourself
If you don’t who will? What you choose to believe about yourself will determine your success.
#8 Chuck It Down
Talks about breaking your goals down to be more productive. It includes some exercises such as mind-mapping, eating the frog, and making a daily to-do list.
#11 See What You Want, Get What You See
This chapter discusses visualization as well as the hour of power which is 20 minutes of reading, exercise, and prayer/meditation done first thing in the morning. This one is a difficult one for me because I already get up so early to go to work but I have been trying to implement it. I notice that when I get a chance to do it, my day goes a little more smoothly and I am able to focus a little better.
Not that any of the principles are less important, these are just a few that stuck with me this time around. I also think that each time you read it something else will apply a little more considering the phase you are at in life.
This book has a wealth of additional online resources you can access for free such as printables and emails to help you implement the principles. If you have big goals and you aren’t quite sure where to start I would recommend picking this books up. Even if you think you are headed in the right direction it doesn’t hurt to learn something new.
