Since I love to run I also love to sign up for races. I love training for something since it gives me a goal as I’m running. While I love the traditional race and preparing for race day, lately I started signing up for virtual races. So far I have done two. I feel it’s a good option since I am pregnant and I can’t run as fast as normal.
What is a Virtual Race?
A virtual race is basically a race you sign up for and do on your own time, anywhere you want. Normally, you sign up and have a certain amount of time (like two weeks) to complete the race. The distance ranges from 5K, 10K, and halfs. I’ve only done the 5K so far. The races usually cost around $20. That pays for your medal and bib. Usually a portion also goes to a charity. Some races only have medals. Typically, they have a Facebook or Instagram where you can upload your finisher pictures. I have seen some pretty sick medals online. Like these:
Where to sign up?
This is the only place I have signed up with so far. Here is what I received for the most recent race I signed up for.
They have two upcoming events:
4th Annual Run for the Boobies – Open 22 Aug
4th Annual Light the Streets Pink – Opens 7 Oct
I’m sure there are plenty more out there. These are just the ones I ran into. Check out a few of these races and let me know what you think.
